Our California Vacation
We went to California March 4 - March 9
We had so much fun! Below are just a few of the many pictures we took.
Newport Beach Temple
We went by the temple on Sunday. It was erected in 2005. We were thinking about doing a session there. We brought our temple packets, but we discovered we forgot to bring our temple clothing.
The stake center is located right beside the temple. We tried really hard to go to church on Sunday. The first two wards we went to were completely empty. We figured something had to be up, so Adam drove to a stake center (not this one). There were people there, and Adam asked a missionary what was going on. Apparently there was a regional broadcast that day at 10 a.m. Adam didn't know too many people there, so we went to the Newport Beach stake center. We were late, and there wasn't any parking. When we finally did park, there was no where to sit in the building. So, we went next door and took pictures of the temple.
Crystal Cathedral
We also went here on Sunday. When you go inside, you can see the outside all around you. Adam said that people believe if you pray in the crystal tower, your prayer is shot up to God....interesting.
Miranda and Matt
On Monday we drove out to Yucca Valley to meet Matt and Miranda. Matt is stationed at the Twentynine Palms Marine base, and Miranda was visiting him during his 4 days of leave. We found out we would be in California at the same time. It was nice to be able to see them out there.
Newport Beach
We went to Newport Beach on Tuesday. We actually went there Sunday, too, but I wasn't dressed for the beach. Adam took a few pictures of me as I dared to put my feet in the water. The Pacific Ocean is freezing cold! We also ate lunch in a restaurant at the end of one of the piers.
Downtown Disney
After the beach, we drove to Downtown Disney. This way we could still do the Disney thing without paying a fortune to go to Disneyland. Here, Adam is standing near a giraffe made entirely out of legos. Very cool!
Knott's Berry Farm
On Wednesday we went to Knott's Berry Farm! Adam is pointing up at Snoopy, whose ears look like...something interesting. It was a great day to go. The weather was perfect, and there were next to no lines!
Medieval Times
We went to Medieval Times after our day at Knott's Berry Farm. It was a little pricey, but we knew we wanted to go eventually. It was a great show. We had to eat our dinner with our hands! Also, we were in the blue section, which meant we cheered for the blue knight (he's in the bottom right corner). We also had to wear blue paper crowns. Our knight prevailed over all the other knights and won the princess's hand! We were very excited. I would highly recommend it.
