January 2007 Journal
January 31, 2007
Ok, so I'm a little late this week. I went ahead and deleted some of my previous journal entries since I printed them out to keep. I figure no one will miss them. Now I just need to update the pics... Speaking of pics, I uploaded some more to my blog: www.amlewis2003.blogspot.com
Mary Bernice recommended a book for me to read. It's called "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer. It's a vampire/human love story. Mary Bernice had read it for book club and thought I'd enjoy it. It took me awhile to start it, but once I did I was finished in no time. I began reading it Thursday and ended on Sunday (the book is nearly 500 pages, in case you're wondering). I loved it! I couldn't put it down! Actually, I had to put it down to work and go to church...luckily we weren't too busy at work last week, so I was able to get some reading done there. I was a little sad once I finished the book. It sort of left me hanging. I decided to go to Stephenie Meyer's website (www.StephenieMeyer.com) to check it out. She's a BYU graduate and a member of the church, which is really cool. She also had an article in December 2006's Ensign called "Hero in the Grocery Store." It turns out there's a sequel, "New Moon," and Stephenie promises there'll be even more. I am so excited!! There's also a movie in the works. Anywho, I ended up buying the sequel and the original book online for less than the price of one book in the book store. They're on their way to me, and I can't wait to start reading "New Moon!" I highly recommend reading them! They're in the Teen section in book stores (don't laugh). :)
Ok, enough with the book. Friday was Girls' Night Out, and we had dinner at P.F. Chang's again. This was by far one of the better nights we had, because it was like a high school reunion. Andrea Wilson (Hill) came with her daughter Celeste, Sara Nowlin (Moran) came, and Nita Southern (Ellington). Of course, Crystie and Jeanie were there. Abby came again, too. We didn't know her in high school, but I'm glad she was able to come. It was so good to see everyone again. I hadn't seen Andrea since high school, which'll be 9 years this June. That's right, 9 years!! Boy, am I getting old! I last saw Sara at my reception, and Nita worked with me at Well Spring. Everyone seems to be doing great! I took a couple of pics, so check them out on my blog.
Sunday I was released from nursery. The Bishop said it would be by the end of January, and he kept his promise. I went one last time, but there weren't many kids there. I'll probably feel really strange this Sunday, sitting in Sunday School and Relief Society. Ugh, Grown Up World!! I'm not sure if I'll remember how to be a grown up.... Being released from this calling is definitely bitter sweet. I really love the kids and enjoy spending time with them. However, I've been in nursery for a very long time, and the kids definitely wear you out. I'll miss them so much! Oh, and by the way, I don't have a new calling yet.
As I sort of mentioned before, work last week was a bit...slow. This week has been pretty steady, just the way I like it. The period end schedule is different this year. Instead of being every four weeks, it's now at Noon on the last day of the month. That mean's period end was today. I haven't decided if I like it better or not. We had to make sure all of the cases for the month had been posted before noon so I could send the info to corporate. We barely made it! After I was finished, I was able to print my reports instead of waiting until the next day. So, so far so good.
Tomorrow (Thursday) should be interesting. According to the weather reports, I'm going to wake up to some nasty stuff outside. Snow, sleet, ice...I really hope it doesn't affect me too much. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they say it's going to be. Some counties have already cancelled school, and nothing's happened yet! People in the northern states would laugh at us. Anywho, I guess I'll find out soon enough..
If you're in any kind of mess tomorrow, be safe and have a good rest of the week!

Isn't it miraculous that I'm updating the website today?!
I found this really cool picture slideshow website and decided to try it out. Just check out my blog to see the cool stuff I was able to do with the pics I took this week: www.amlewis2003.blogspot.com
It snowed this week! For awhile there, it had been in the seventies this winter! Now it's finally cold. I don't really care for the cold weather, but I suppose it's meant to be. Adam took a few shots of the snow, just so we can prove it really snowed. We had a little sleet this morning while driving to church, and it's raining right now. I heard something might happen tonight, but who knows. As long as it doesn't affect my driving abilities, it's all good!
This week has been crazy and insane at work. The stuff in my previous post below is still happening. We had four funerals on Friday and six more on Saturday. It seemed like every new call we received planned the funeral for either of those days. I wonder what's in store for me tomorrow...
We had a great weekend. Friday, Adam and I went to Steak and Shake and then came home to watch "Employee of the Month." Some of the jokes were a little crude, but it was a better movie than what I was expecting. Afterwards I went to Kohls and found some jeans! I've been needing jeans for a while, especially since I lost all that weight. I found three pairs that fit, and they're size 6! It's been awhile since I've seen that size, and I'm really excited about them. I was also able to find some good deals on two shirts.
Saturday was Mary Bernice's birthday. I came up with the idea to get her an apron with "Mumra" on it. That's what Adam calls his mom. It has something to do the Thunder Cats. Anywho, Adam made the design for his T-shirt shop and created the apron. You can see a pic of it in the slideshow. Jason and Sabrina also came into town; as did Amy, Mark, and the boys. It was great to see all of them. The two dogs, Rocky and Rose, seemed to have a good time playing with each other. Rose, the weimereiner, definitely liked it more than Rocky, the pomeranian. It's too bad I didn't get any pics of the two of them. Anywho, Jason and Sabrina took the boys rock climbing at Tumble Bees. They had a great time, and I got some cute pics. Later that evening we went to a wedding reception for Fernanda and Jon Baier. It was pretty fun, and I was able to get Adam to dance with me...once. He's such a good husband :)
Today has been pretty lazy. We went to church, of course, and everything went fine there. A couple of the nursery kids were crying, but we didn't have as many as we usually do. Afterwards, Adam went to sleep, and I ended up falling asleep on the couch. I'm just glad I was able to update the website today.
I hope everyone has a great week!

Alright, so I'm finally starting my Journal for 2007. I have yet to delete any of the other pages yet, though. I still need to print them out before I delete them. I went ahead and added pics to my blog: www.amlewis2003.blogspot.com It took me awhile to do that, because I got a new digital camera. I know my other camera is only a year old, but I found a pretty good deal on a better one. I'm pretty happy with it so far. The pictures are really clear, and there's a lot of cool features.
Anywho, I'm trying to remember what all has happened so far this year. Adam and I were able to spend New Year's Eve at home for the first time since we were married. I usually drive to Harris Teeter a little before midnight, and we have a sparkling cider toast. It was nice not having to leave the house.
Oh, my mom got all of the cats a toy for Christmas. It's called "Da Bird," and it's the greatest thing ever. It literally looks like a bird flying through the air! The Kitty gets so tired out that he pants, but he still doesn't give up. I have to put the toy away soon after I get it out, otherwise the Kitty would have a heart attack! Holly, my mom's cat, was scared of her bird, so I bought it from her and gave it to Kyndal at work. She says her kitty loves it, too! We got some film of ours playing with it. I need to figure out how to post that.
I found out the funniest thing last Sunday. Adam and I brought "Nacho Libre" to my mom's house to see if we could get her to watch it. She said she saw it in the theater!! The writers of "Napoleon Dynamite" also wrote "Nacho Libre," and she thought Napoleon was the stupidest movie ever. Apparently she had no idea Nacho was going to be like Napoleon. She just heard it was funny and went to see it. That is hilarious! Needless to say, we didn't watch Nacho. We watched "Over the Hedge" instead.
So far work this year has been a bit crazy. We had six funerals this past Saturday and five today. The rest are a little more spread out, which is good. I'm glad I have plenty of work to do, though. There's nothing worse than sitting at your desk trying to figure out what to do with your time.
Adam started school last Monday. He has two 3-hour classes and one class via e-mail. He seems to like his Monday class, which is Business Law. I remember taking that class, and I liked it, too. I can't imagine fhaving it for three straight hours, though. His Thursday night class is a marketing class, and he has to do a lot of group work...which is never fun. The e-mail class involves writing papers and such that deal with his job, so hopefully that won't be too hard. I'm sure he'll do just fine! After this semester, there's just one summer class and one more semester to go. Woohoo!
This week I found out two of my friends in Ohio had their babies. April had hers in September, Gabriel Trace. I wish I would've known sooner! Shannon had hers last Thursday, Abigail Faith. Miranda is due in July!
I'm still in nursery. I'll be released by the end of the month, though. Nursery's a lot quieter now that the older kids are in Sunbeams. Unfortunately, none of them are potty-trained, and we can understand only a few. It's still fun, though! I'll definitely miss them when I'm not in there anymore.
Well, I suppose that sums up this year so far. Have a good week everyone!
