June 2007 Journal (New!)
June 24, 2007
So it's been a really long time since I've updated my sites. June's almost over! Work has been insane. We're learning a new system at work, and it's stressing me and everyone else out. When I get home, I want to do nothing. Luckily I've gotten the hang of things this past week, so I'm feeling ok now.
At the beginning of June, I participated in the Alzheimer's Association's Memory Walk. My dad's mom died from Alzheimer's Disease, so I think it's pretty important to raise money for research. Five of my coworkers walked with me. This year it was at First Horizon Ball Park in downtown Greensboro. It was kind of fun to walk up and down the streets of downtown, especially when cars had to wait. It wasn't too hot, and it didn't rain. All in all, it was a good morning.
Jonathan was babysitting Jason and Sabrina's dogs at the beginning June. I think it would be difficult going from taking care of no dogs to two huge dogs. I don't think I would've been able to do it. I took some pics of them, too.
I finally went to another Enrichment activity at church. This is the third one I've been to in two years. Sad, huh? We had dinner outside and played some games. I won the hula-hoop contest! I used to hula-hoop all the time as a kid, and I really didn't think I could do it anymore. I had fun.
Adam and I celebrated our fourth wedding anniversary on June 14th. He said it was my turn to figure out what we'd do, so I chose to go to the Biltmore Estate. I'd been there once before. Adam's never had an interest in going, so I thought this was the perfect "excuse" to get him to go. Afterwards, he said it was definitely worth a once-through. Audio guides are definitely a must, and you can purchase tickets/audio guides combined at a discount price on their website: www.biltmore.com After we went through the house, we left and headed to Mount Mitchell State Park. It was about an hour drive on the Blueridge Parkway. When we got to the top, Adam discovered the trail to the observation tower was closed due to renovation. It kind of ended up being a wasted trip. The only thing we came away with was a cup of spiced cider, some silly video clips, and a pic or two. I guess that's good enough. We took lots of pics, so check them out on my blog: www.amlewis2003.blogspot.com.
Last Sunday was Father's Day, and we really didn't do anything special. While at Biltmore Estate, Adam and I bought our dads some grape juice and fudge. They enjoyed it, so I guess that's the important thing. Our nephews were also in town. It's always fun to play with them, and I got a few cute pics. Jasmine was being especially cute. I took mostly video footage of her. I just need to figure out how to post that on my blog.
Adam finished up his first summer school session on Monday and started the second one on Thursday. The first session was in the morning, and the second is in the evening. And I was getting used to him being home when I got home from work. Ah well... he's almost done!
Oh yeah, I got a really crazy call from my mom this week. She told me Catie was at the beach last Saturday playing around with a surfboard in the water. The surfboard slipped out from under her. While she was standing up and wiping the water from her eyes, the surfboard slammed into her rib cage. She broke some ribs! As many people know, there really isn't anything you can do help heal broken ribs. She's just hopped up on pain medication. She's still working, too. How crazy is that?!
Well, that's really all I can think of right now. Enjoy the pics!
